A little help from my friends

The only mistake you can make is not asking for help.
-Sandeep Jauhar

Hello all.

It has been a while since I have posted a good long post.  I am still working on the post about my Wisconsin trip for Wednesday. This is a slightly different one than the normal updates.

I have started a gofundme campaign to allow me to spend some devoted time to Renegade Lily. I explained what I need and what it is for in my message there but I will repeat it here too.

I made a goal for myself this year to open an Etsy shop and start a blog to share my journey into craftiness and have accomplished it. The stumbling block I am running into now is having time to invest in making product to sell and putting my stuff out there more at art fairs and galleries. What I need is a month or two to work steadily, get out to galleries, and sign up for some fairs. Basically I am asking for some good old fashioned patronage from my friends and relations. My living expenses are at a minimum living with my sister. I just need a little to squeak by, pay for entrance and table fees for fairs, and what ever few supplies that I might need as I work. The timing is right to do it now. Lynne, the sister I live with, is having surgery in September. I had already planned to take most of the month off to help her recover. This way I can work on my crafts for 2 months and then be there for her. In October I will start the new job search. At that point my shop should be full and I’ll have some fairs planned.

Here is the link to my page.

I figured it doesn't hurt to ask. I would appreciate any help I can get.

Thanks

Danielle

Coming to an end.

My vacation is coming to an end. I am sitting on Anne's parents porch petting the puppies and rocking on the swing. It has been so nice and relaxing.

I have lots of photos and stories to share when I get back to my desktop.

I hope you all are having fun summer days.

Vacation, all I ever wanted. Vacation, had to get away.

Hello all.

Another Wednesday has come. Actually, because I am nocturnal, it is technically Thursday, but let's not dwell on that.

I am still trying to get everything done. I have done quite a bit of sewing. I finished another project.

It is hard to see because of the sun, but it is a fluffy sleeveless shirt in a cute birdie print. It was fun to make and really fun to wear.

I really hope I can get all the sewing that I want done by the time I go on my vacation. I am feeling a little less stressed. I sent off a box of heavy stuff today. Got my suitcase out of the closet. I am almost done with some gift projects. I cleaned my room. Most of my laundry is done. I have a list of things I need to procure before I leave. All in all, I am doing alright.

I can't wait to relax. It has been a long time since I did some traveling. I feel sometimes that my life has become so confined these past few years.

When I was younger, I loved to move about. When I first got my car, I would go on long drives. Just get out and look around at things for the change. I can't do that anymore. My car is old and on its last legs. The few friends I have left in town live on the west side of the city. It seems so hard to get there that I may as well still live in Louisiana.

I go this short distance between work and home. Everything I do is between those two places. This is starting to wear on me. I am starting to feel like a caged animal.

So I guess this trip is coming at a good time. I love to travel. As Anne Shirley would say, there is such scope for the imagination in traveling. I love that transient feeling I get when I don't really belong to where I am. It frees me up to be different. I can evaluate my life differently and sometimes more objectively because I am currently not the me I usually am.

I also like meeting new people. As anyone who knows me knows, I can talk to just about anyone about everything. I will get your life story out of you before I am done with you and tell you mine. People are so interesting sometimes. Travel puts you in the path of different people who have different experiences. People whom you might never meet in your day to day life.

All this just to say I am excited to be traveling a bit. I need a change of scenery.

I don't know if I'll be able to post anything for the next two weeks. But there will be many pictures and much story telling when I get back.

Have a great week and try to get out there and see what's new.

Last week was not a good one. I was in a bad funk and couldn't get out of it. I am doing better now. Back on the horse. There is much to be done and so little time in which to do it.

A couple of fun things happening this month.

I am participating in a fabric scrap exchange arranged by a lovely blogger The Teacup Incident.

I just sent of my scraps and can't wait to see what I get. Here are some pictures of my package.

I haven't been doing much jewelry making now. I have been trying to sew up some new summer clothes before I go on vacation.

I made up two really simple shirts. One is already worn and in the hamper. I finished one tonight which is why I am posting so late. I took a selfie in it because everyone else is asleep. It is horrible but it is what it is.

This one my sister called my Lucy shirt as in I Love Lucy. I have to agree. I think it would cute with a belt. Going to have to look into making one.

My next project is to make this.

I am going to make it long and were a cute T shirt underneath with leggings or something. I want to use the scraps I am getting from the exchange to make some cute appliqués or patch pockets. I'll have to see what I get.

I have other projects planned if I can get to them. Some dresses, skirts, and a couple different tops.

I am heading to Wisconsin soon to see some friends of mine, Anne and Matthias. The live in the country. I'll be going on walks, working on Anne's parents farm, playing with the puppies and hanging out with cool chickens. Plus there will be good food and good talk. Anne and I have planned enough crafting to keep us plenty busy. I can't wait.

I leave in 12 days and still have to gather things, pack, and figure out how to change from the train to the bus in Chicago. Arrgh!

Ok, I need to get back to sewing.

See you next week.
